Mañe Azpi farmhouse, built in the 17th century, has been a family home for generations, deeply rooted in the land, its animals and the traditional rural way of life in the Basque Country. Its stone walls preserve a family story shaped by tradition, hard work and a deep connection to the land, a legacy that can still be felt in every corner.
In 2001, this family farmhouse opened its doors as Mañe Rural Hotel, a place created to share our way of life and offer a peaceful retreat to those seeking nature, authenticity and tranquillity. Somewhere to escape the noise, slow down and rediscover life’s simple pleasures.
Located in Mallabia, Bizkaia, on the slopes of Mount Urko at an altitude of approximately 350 metres, Mañe Rural Hotel offers ten guest rooms, a welcoming communal lounge with a fireplace, a spacious viewing balcony and green outdoor areas overlooking the surrounding landscape.

Rural environment
Mañe Rural Hotel is located on the slopes of Mount Urko, at an altitude of approximately 350 metres, in Mallabia, Bizkaia. Set within an authentic 17th-century Basque farmhouse and surrounded by mountains, woodland and small streams, it is the perfect place to unwind, escape the noise and reconnect with nature.
The surrounding area retains the true essence of rural life in the Basque Country. Along the way, you may come across traditional farmhouses, cows, sheep, horses and native birds such as red kites, blackbirds and chaffinches. On occasion, you may even spot a peregrine falcon.
The hotel enjoys views of some of the Basque Country’s most iconic mountains, including Oiz, Urko and Anboto and, when the weather is clear, Gorbeia in Álava.
What is the drive to Mañe Rural Hotel like?
The journey to Mañe is part of the experience. The final stretch leading up to the farmhouse follows a paved country road with bends, surrounded by woodland.
If it is your first visit, the road may initially seem a little narrow and different from an urban road. However, it is suitable for standard passenger cars and wide enough for two vehicles to pass each other with care.
We recommend taking your time on the way up, enjoying the scenery and following the location provided by the hotel. Once you reach the top, the views, peaceful surroundings and sense of tranquillity make the journey well worth it.
